Mayor Establishes Framework for Long-Term Flood Recovery Efforts
Recovery Operations transition from Emergency Operations Center to Mayor’s Office
On May 14, 2010, Mayor Karl Dean announced that Metro Government is transitioning its flood-related operations from short-term response and recovery to a framework that can sustain long-term recovery assistance for residents and businesses.
In order to manage ongoing and long-term recovery efforts, Mayor Dean formed a full-time Recovery Team to work out of the Mayor’s Office. Team members and areas of work include:
- Jen Cole, Human Services. Cole is the Director of the Metro Nashville Arts Commission. Prior to being appointed Director of Nashville Arts in December 2009, she served as Vice President of Strategy & Partnerships for the Atlanta-headquartered Points of Light Institute & HandsOn Network.
- Talia Lomax-O’Neal, Finance. Lomax-O’Neal is the Assistant Director of Metro Finance over the Office of Management and Budget.
- Billy Fields, Neighborhood and Community Affairs. Fields is the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods. Fields has served in various capacities with Metro Government for over 20 years, most recently working as a special assistant to the Director of Metro Codes.
- Loretta Owens, Housing. Owens is the Executive Director of The Housing Fund, a Nashville-based nonprofit established to finance affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization projects.
- Doug Sloan, Legal. Sloan is currently an attorney with the Metropolitan Department of Law.
- Gabriela Castillo, New American Community and Administrative Support. Castillo is Executive Assistant to Deputy Mayor and Office Manager.
- Carrie Logan, Legal/Planning. Logan works with Land Development and Design in the Metro Planning Department.
- Gwen Hopkins-Glascock, Public Works. Hopkins-Glascock is Public Information Officer for Public Works and assists with the Recovery Team's media relations.
- Neel Deshpande. Research/Special Projects Coordinator.
