Housing
Financial Assistance
Nashville’s We Are Home program helps provide financing to repair homes damaged by the May 2010 floods. It is designed to fill financial gaps that exist after taking into account individual assistance provided by FEMA and the SBA. To apply for the We Are Home program or to speak with a housing coach, call The Housing Fund at 615-862-6523.

Assistance with Home Furnishings
Home furnishings, including couches, cabinets and more are still available to flood survivors. A phone call to the Flood Recovery Network begins this process. Call 615-567-3232 to learn more.
Rebuilding Assistance
Volunteer groups and professional builders are still providing assistance to homeowners. This work is conducted through various organizations and is accessed through the Flood Recovery Network. Call 615-567-3232 to learn more.

Contractors and Rebuilding Permits
Homeowners making repairs to a flood-damaged structure need to get a building permit. More information about the permitting process, including help finding a licensed contractor, can be found online at the Department of Codes and Building Safety or by calling the Codes Department at (615) 862-6500. Homeowners can also apply online for a single family residential flood repair permit.

Energy Efficiency
Nashville Energy Works: The Nashville Energy Works program provides financial incentives to homeowners who make their homes more energy efficient. For more information, call 615-880-1888.
Federal Tax Credits: You may be eligible for federal tax credits equaling 10% of the cost of making certain energy- efficient upgrades to your home, up to a maximum of $500.
EnergyStar® Rebates: Tennessee residents who purchased a qualifying EnergyStar® heating and cooling systems on or after April 22, 2010, will be eligible for one of the following rebates: (1) $250 for an air source heat pump; (2) $250 for a central air conditioner; (3) $40 for a room air conditioner or (4) $150 for gas furnaces.
The Hazard Mitigation Home Buyout Program
Metro Water Services is administering a Hazard Mitigation Home Buyout Program to reduce the loss of life and property from any future significant flood event in Davidson County.
Federal Assistance
The deadline to apply for FEMA and SBA federal flood assistance was August 5, 2010, and no new applications are being accepted. Davidson County residents who registered for federal assistance before the August 5 deadline and want to check the status of their application or appeal a FEMA decision should contact FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA.

Health
Health Risks at Home
As you return to a home that has been flooded, be aware that mold might be present and could be a health risk for your family. The Metro Public Health Department has tips on how to recognize and prevent mold and how to dry out your house.

Mental Health
Free or discounted mental health assistance may be available for flood survivors. The Tennessee Recovery Project was formed in the wake of the flood to serve this need. If you need assistance, please call (877) 567-6051.
Flood survivors in crisis may also call the Crisis Line at 615-244-7444 or the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 800-273-TALK.

Legal Services
For legal assistance with FEMA, insurance companies, replacing legal documents or contractor or landlord/ tenant disputes, call the Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services at 888-395-9297. You may be able to have some questions answered online at www.onlinetnjustice.org.
